The Journey of Sacrifice and Redemption

Passion Week is the sacred week in the Christian faith that remembers the final days of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry. The word “passion” refers to the suffering, sacrifice, and love that Jesus demonstrated as He willingly went to the cross to redeem humanity.

Beginning with Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem as the promised King, and culminating with Resurrection Sunday, when He rose from the grave in victory, Passion Week tells the story of God’s greatest act of love.

For believers, this week is more than a historical remembrance, it is an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and renew our commitment to Christ. As we walk through this journey together, we are reminded of:

The Source of Our Salvation
Jesus Christ, who came to redeem humanity.

The Sacrifice of Our Savior
The cross where redemption was purchased.

The Sovereignty of Our Savior
The resurrection victory that proved Christ is Lord over sin, death, and the grave.

Throughout this week, I invite you to take time each day to read the Scriptures, reflect on the events of the cross, pray, and respond to what God is speaking to your heart.

May this journey deepen your faith and prepare your heart to celebrate the victory of Resurrection Sunday.

A Call to Walk the Journey

As we enter Passion Week: The Journey of Sacrifice and Redemption, I invite every member and partner to intentionally walk through this sacred time of devotion and reflection. I encourage you to set aside time each day to prayerfully engage with this devotional. Allow this week to be a time of reflection, repentance, remembrance, and renewal as we consider the love Christ demonstrated through His journey to the cross.

Make a personal commitment to fully participate in the opportunities provided throughout the week. Join us in worship on Palm Sunday, gather with us for Teaching in the Temple on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM, participate in the Good Friday fast from sunrise to 3:00 PM, and prepare your heart to celebrate the victory of Christ on Resurrection Sunday.

As you walk through each day’s Scripture, reflection, prayer, declaration, and action, ask the Lord to deepen your faith, strengthen your devotion, and renew your gratitude for the gift of salvation. Let this week be more than a tradition, let it be a spiritual journey that draws you closer to Christ.

Scripture: Matthew 21:9 (NKJV)
“Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!'”

Reflection
Jesus entered Jerusalem as the promised King. The people celebrated Him with praise and expectation, yet many did not fully understand His mission. Passion Week begins by reminding us that Jesus is not only Savior but King. When we welcome Him as King, we surrender our lives, our plans, and our hearts to His rule.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, today I welcome You as King in my life. I acknowledge that You alone are worthy of my worship and my obedience. As this Passion Week begins, prepare my heart to reflect on Your love and sacrifice. Help me not to treat this week casually but to remember the price You paid for my redemption. Teach me to honor You not only with my words but with my life. Let my worship be sincere, my heart be humble, and my faith be strong. May my life continually declare that You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Amen.

Declaration
I declare that Jesus Christ is my King. I welcome His authority and leadership in every area of my life. My heart, my mind, and my decisions are surrendered to Him.

Action
Be present for Palm Sunday Worship @ 7:30am | 9:30am, as we reflect on Jesus as the King who came to bring salvation.

Scripture: Matthew 21:13 (NKJV)
“And He said to them, ‘It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'”

Reflection
When Jesus entered the temple and saw corruption, He cleansed it. The temple was meant to be a place of prayer and worship. Likewise, our lives are meant to reflect the holiness and presence of God. Passion Week invites us to allow the Lord to cleanse anything in our hearts that does not honor Him.

Prayer
Father, I ask You to search my heart today. If there is anything within me that displeases You, reveal it so that I may surrender it to You. Cleanse my thoughts, my attitudes, and my motives. Remove pride, bitterness, distraction, and anything that interferes with my relationship with You. Make my heart a place where Your presence is welcome and honored. Let my life truly become a house of prayer and devotion to You. I thank You that through Christ I am forgiven, renewed, and made clean. Amen.

Declaration
My life is a temple of the Holy Spirit. I declare that my heart is being cleansed, renewed, and aligned with the will of God.

Action
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything you need to surrender or correct in your life.

Scripture: Matthew 22:37 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'”

Reflection
On Tuesday of Passion Week, Jesus spent much of the day teaching in the temple. His teachings revealed the priorities of God’s Kingdom and the heart of true devotion. His Word continues to instruct, guide, and transform us today.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Your truth gives direction to my life and wisdom for my decisions. Help me not only to hear Your Word but to live it out daily. Give me understanding as I read Scripture and humility to apply what You teach me. Let Your Word shape my thoughts, guide my actions, and strengthen my faith. May I grow in my love for You with all my heart, soul, and mind. Amen.

Declaration
The Word of God directs my life. I declare that I walk in wisdom, truth, and understanding as I follow the teachings of Christ.

Action
Gather this evening at 7:30 PM for worship and Teaching in the Temple as we receive God’s Word

Scripture: Psalm 139:23–24 (NKJV)
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Reflection
Wednesday is often called the quiet day of Passion Week. It is a moment to pause and examine our hearts. Before the events of the cross unfolded, there was a moment of reflection. This day reminds us to slow down and allow God to search our hearts.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I invite You to examine my heart today. Reveal my fears, my worries, and my hidden struggles. Lead me in the path that pleases You. I desire to walk in righteousness and faithfulness before You. Help me to grow spiritually and to live in a way that honors Your name. Strengthen my commitment to You and renew my passion for Your presence. Amen.

Declaration
My heart is open to God’s correction and guidance. I am being led in the way everlasting.

Action
Spend quiet time reflecting on your spiritual life and asking God to guide your steps.

Scripture: John 13:14–15 (NKJV)
“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”

Reflection
During the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrated humility and servant leadership. Though He was Lord, He served His disciples. His example teaches us that true greatness in the Kingdom of God is expressed through love and service.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the example You gave us through Your humility and service. Teach me to serve others with compassion and grace. Remove selfishness from my heart and help me reflect Your love to those around me. May my actions demonstrate kindness, humility, and generosity. Let my life be a reflection of Your servant heart. Amen.

Declaration
I follow the example of Christ. I walk in humility and serve others with love.

Action
Look for an opportunity to serve someone today in a meaningful way.

Scripture: Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Reflection
Good Friday reminds us of the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The cross was the place where redemption was purchased and where God’s love was demonstrated to the world.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, I thank You for the sacrifice You made on the cross. You endured suffering so that I could experience forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation with God. Help me never to take Your sacrifice for granted. Let the reality of the cross shape the way I live, love, and serve. May my life reflect gratitude for the grace You have given me. Amen.

Declaration
Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, I am redeemed, forgiven, and made whole.

Action
Participate in the Church’s Good Friday fast from sunrise to 3:00 PM as we remember the hour Christ gave His life.

Recognizing that everyone is in a different place physically and spiritually, we encourage participation through three levels of fasting.

Level One: Water Only Fast
Abstain from all food and beverages except water from sunrise until 3:00 PM. This level allows believers to focus on prayer, reflection, and gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ while maintaining hydration.

Level Two: Liquid Fast
Refrain from solid food but may drink liquids such as water, juice, tea, and broth. This option allows participation for those who may need some nourishment while still honoring the spiritual discipline of fasting.

Level Three: Modified Fast
Refrain from meat and heavier foods during this time and instead eat light foods only, such as fruits, vegetables, salads, and smoothies. This option allows individuals to participate in the fast while honoring personal health considerations.

Health Advisory
If you are currently under medical care, taking medication, or have any health conditions that could be affected by fasting, please consult your physician before participating in the church’s corporate fast. Your health and well-being are important.

Scripture: Romans 8:25 (NKJV)
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”

Reflection
Saturday represents the moment between the cross and the resurrection. Though it seemed like hope had been lost, God was still working. Even when we cannot see what God is doing, His promises remain true.

Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith during seasons of waiting. When I cannot see what You are doing, help me trust Your plan. Teach me patience, perseverance, and hope. Remind me that You are always working behind the scenes for my good and for Your glory. Amen.

Declaration
Even in waiting, I trust God. His promises will be fulfilled in His perfect timing.

Action
Spend quiet time thanking God for the promises He is fulfilling in your life

Scripture: Matthew 28:6 (NKJV)
“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Reflection
The resurrection is the foundation of our faith. Jesus conquered death and secured victory for all who believe. Because He lives, we live in hope, freedom, and new life.

Prayer
Father, thank You for the victory of the resurrection. Because Jesus lives, I have hope, purpose,
and eternal life. Help me walk daily in the power of the resurrection and share the good news of
Christ with others. Amen.

Declaration
Jesus is alive, and because He lives, I walk in victory and new life.

Action
Be present for the Resurrection Celebration Service @ 7:30am | 9:30am, as we celebrate our Risen Savior.
